October is always a busy month and leaves little time for now I am playing catch-up!  We just finished a double "Homecoming"! Sara's high school homecoming and Elizabeth's fall break homecoming !  Luckily, Elizabeth's fall break (a nice long week break) co-incided with lots of festivities that allowed her to come home and see lots of folks and enjoy an action  packed week!
Sara dressed up as the "Hitchhiker of the Galaxy" for costume day.....

One of her best friends, Rachel, was a maid on the Homecoming court ~ here she is getting ready for the Homecoming parade.  The very cool car she rode in was a Thunderbird owned by her don't see those around town very often!

Our homecoming parade consists of some (ahem) highly decorated floats - here is the Junior float - with Sara and her friends ready to ride.   The theme this year was "Out of this world" so everything has to do with Space and such.....

Is that not the cutest thing ever?  Love the car, love the girls in their suits, hats and mums!

We could not stay for the parade as we had to get to our second homecoming.....Elizabeth!  She flew in right after the parade started so we had to leave and get right to the airport to pick her up....I snapped this photo as she was walking up to our car.  It became an invaluable tool to us later in "the case of the missing portfolio".  About four days into her stay, Elizabeth decided it was time to get down to accomplishing some school work, some of which was a painting for her art class that she had lugged with her in an art portfolio.  After searching the house, the portfolio was nowhere to be found.  I told her that I did not remember her getting into the car with it, but she was certain that she did.  Finally, after a massive search of the car and house AGAIN....I went through the photos...and there it was - right here ~ Elizabeth getting into our car with no portfolio in hand.  Now, the panic started to set in.
Back tracking, we determined that she may have set it down to pick up her luggage in the baggage claim, and left the portfolio.  Phone calls were made, messages left and finally, phone calls returned with GOOD NEWS - the portfolio was safe and sound in Lost and Found!  We were so relieved as her project was about half completed and all of her completed semesters work was in there as well.  It would have been a disaster to lose....thanks to my super sleuthing efforts the case was solved!

This is Elizabeth's first time home since she left for college and she was very excited.  She had forgotten how much she missed our great state!

She chattered ninety to nothing with Ellen catching up on everything and was very appreciative of
our Louisiana beauty as we drove home.

Our swamps of cypress trees that she had always taken for granted, all of a sudden became a
huge item of attraction.  How had she never noticed how pretty they were?

The sunsets did not disappoint. You can see how breathtaking it was; even from
photos from a moving car through the our car window.

What a welcome back to Louisiana she received!!!!!

We were anxious to see how Maisy ~ her golden retriever ~ reacted when she walked through the door.  Remember when Maisy went into deep depression ( "missing our gal" ) after Elizabeth took about a month to get her out of the doldrums and perked back up.
As you can see, she was quite excited to see her
beloved master!  (and vice-verse)

Once these two were reacquainted, we had to quickly run to the Homecoming football game where Sara and gang awaited our arrival and were cheering the team to victory!

It was a perfect week for Elizabeth to come home as she got to visit with practically
everyone in town as well as all her old friends.

There is the mascot who is also Sara's homecoming date!

Not having seen each other since Elizabeth left for college,
Sara and Elizabeth were very excited to see each other.

Reunions and Homecomings sure are fun!

Rachael was able to come a say hello for a minute  before....

she did her thing at  half-time as a Homecoming maid.

The next morning brought a cross country race - with the beautiful weather we were so lucky to have...

We decided to bring the dogs....this is Maisy's puppy Cajun.  She is all grown up now and gorgeous.

Elizabeth and Maisy

Cajun and Maisy ( Maisy is Cajun's Mother) Cajun will be a year old in January and is turning out to be quite a nice little puppy.

Well, we move pretty quickly and it didn't take too long for Sara to go from this...

to this......

That falcon mascot cleaned up as nicely as Sara!

Nice Elizabeth!

Sara is praying that she won't impale her date right now!

It was  a beautiful night for the Homecoming dance and it began with dinner at a deluxe golf course for many of the Seniors...

I snapped a few photos before dinner and then they were on their own!

Now that is a cute couple.

Whew - the week held many more adventures, but at least I have gotten this part documented!

  1. Oh, I know your were glad to have all your girls home!
My heart sank as you were telling about the art portfolio missing and I am so glad you found it!
I adore all the homecoming pictures. The dresses are so lovely and the kid's all look so happy!
Glad your October has been a good one.

  2. I am so glad you were able to find the art portfolio! I bet you had the best time having your whole family all together again. Beautiful photos!!

  3. Okay, Liz and Sarah hugging made me cry. I remember Dottie leaving, and Dottie coming home, and how much I missed her...

How gorgeous is Sarita?! Ugh. Can't get over her! Love her dress, and her date was cute- are they really a couple?

I want a post of all of the contents of the portfolio. She is so talented.

    Can't wait to see y'all!

I would love to hear from you!
